Jeff Johnson / Co-Chief Executive Officer
Jeff Johnson is responsible for Covario’s worldwide client service and business development organizations including new client acquisition, account services and customer satisfaction.
Prior to joining Covario, Jeff served as senior vice president of strategic account development at iCrossing, where he held multiple positions. Previously, he served in leadership positions at AOL Time Warner, Homebuilder.com (a division of Homestore.com) and Trader Advertising Media.
Jeff earned a BS in Business Administration from Arizona State University.
Michael Gullaksen / Co-Chief Executive Officer
Mike Gullaksen leads Covario’s Paid and Earned Media teams in delivering the industry’s most forward-thinking search and social solutions. Mike has more than 12 years of specialized experience in SEO, paid search, social media and analytics. He has built a reputation for creating award-winning search teams, and developing proven search strategies that have helped numerous Global 1000 clients grow their online business and strengthen their online strategy.
Mike serves on the Board of Directors for SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization), helping drive clarity for today’s digital marketing professionals. Mike was named by BtoB Magazine in 2013 to its selective group of “Who’s Who in Search and Digital Marketing.” He was also recently named as one of the Top “40 Under 40” Marketing Executives by Direct Marketing News.
Mike is a regular speaker at events such as SMX, SES, Search Insider Summit, Social Media Strategies Summit, Search Marketing Now, ad:tech and numerous customer events. Mike is often quoted as an expert on search and social in major publications, including Bloomberg, The San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury, DM News, Target Marketing and BtoB Magazine.
Prior to joining Covario, Mike was the senior vice president of search at iCrossing, where he worked for nine years with a variety of advertisers including Bank of America, Coca-Cola, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and Williams-Sonoma.
Mike earned a BS in Business Management from Arizona State University.
Claire Long / Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer
Claire Long serves as both chief operating and chief financial officer of Covario. Her role encompasses executive oversight of finance, accounting and risk management, as well as human resources, legal, information technology and marketing, in support of both the Covario search marketing agency and recently spun-off Rio SEO software business.
Claire has more than 20 years of financial leadership experience, including senior positions in the publishing, software, analytics, semiconductor, digital media, specialty retail, resort and telecommunications industries. Previously, she was the CFO of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Prior to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Claire served as the CFO of Visual Sciences (formerly WebSideStory), where she was instrumental in managing its successful acquisition by Omniture, Inc.
Claire earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Hartford.
Chris Reid / General Manager
Chris Reid serves as the GM for Rio SEO where he oversees the entire operation including sales, product development, support and ultimately division profitability.
For the last 25 years, Chris has held executive management positions in the areas of Sales Management, Marketing and Business Development for both large and small technology companies. Over the course of his career, Chris has served in leadership roles at a number of fast-growing software firms, including such companies as Bussiness.com Media, SDL Language Weaver, Iovation and TorchQuest,. He also had a very successful, five-year stint as senior vice president at the merged Visual Sciences and WebSideStory real-time analytics provider. During his term with the company, Chris and his team grew annual revenues 10-fold to $100 million before it was acquired by Omniture. Prior to Visual Sciences, Chris spent 8 years at MERANT, a leading global e-business software solutions company where he built and lead the company’s #1 sales team to over 30%, year in, year out, growth in total revenues.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University.
Bill Connard / VP Local Search Solutions
Previously, he was the founder and CEO of Top Local Search, Inc., of San Diego, which was acquired by Rio SEO in May 2012. Bill is a serial entrepreneur and successful business executive with expertise in database management, search engine optimization and web site programming. He has many years of experience building and developing multi-location distribution channels and partnerships.
Prior to forming Top Local Search, Bill was a co-founder and systems architect for Hero Industries, another San Diego-based firm that provided location-based services leveraging SEO and SaaS technologies.
